Every morning,
I wake up and my first thought is always “Ten More Minutes!” I admit it, I’m a
snoozer, and I love to sleep. If it were up to me, I’d probably sleep in
everyday, but unfortunately work and life gets in the way of that. So often
times after 2 or 3 snoozes I begrudgingly get out of bed and rush to get ready
for work or whatever it is I have to do that day. I wish I were more of a
morning person, I think if I were I’d be a bit more productive. It bothers me
that my first thoughts to each day aren’t of gratitude, but are instead a
demand for more sleep. I wish instead, I had the thoughts of the psalmist who
said:
“This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice in it and be glad.”
Psalm
118:24
I mean after
all every new day is a gift from God. It’s a call to rejoice, because the Lord
who created us has given us another day in this life and another opportunity to
experience the world around us. I believe that with each passing day, we are
given another chance to shine. We
are given another opportunity to be God’s light in the world and a new
opportunity to do the will of God, regardless of the things we did yesterday. With
every new day dawns a new beginning and the chance to be better than we were
before.
Today is that
new day! Let us rejoice and be glad, let us bring glory to our God who created
us, our God who is faithful and merciful. Choose today to walk in the light and
share the light of Christ with others.
In the words of St. Paul,
“Live as children of light, for
light produces every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth.” Ephesians
5:8-9
Be The Light
Be The Light
Nice, Re!!! I remember the "not a morning person" season and it's tough to rejoice when the alarm goes off. The sure cure for that is getting old...we rejoice just at the fact that we wake up.
