2018 is well under way and many of you are probably already working towards those goals that you have set. Or perhaps you're already feeling overwhelmed by what 2018 has brought your way. I know for certain that my mind is filled with all types of opportunities and accomplishments that I want to achieve. Take the blog for example. I've been thinking about creating a post for the last month. Yet here I am and it's already February and I haven't made a post... and like most people I've been criticizing my failures each week and determining to do better the week after.
Now I'm all for determination and dedication but I think it's important to do something just as much, if not more, than self evaluating our successes and our failures at the end of every day. And what is that you ask? Well I'm glad you asked.
Just Breathe.
And I'm talking about a full shut down breath. Tell that pesky brain to stop coming up with more and more tasks and tell it to focus on getting oxygen to the brain. Focus on that breath. Let it fill you and let it calm you. Let that calmness fill every fiber of your being. If at first it doesn't work then keep trying. And if you end up taking a nap then there's nothing wrong with that, maybe you really need that nap.

So often we get lost in the busy-ness of life and forget to take care of our mental and spiritual health. Taking time to breathe helps do that. Think about some of the greatest people you've ever heard of and I guarantee they took some time to pray or meditate. Perhaps some of the greatest movers of change come to mind... Jesus, Gandhi or Martin Luther King JR perhaps? Trust me! It makes a world of difference and help keeps you balanced.
Do yourself a favor and take a moment to enjoy the world around you. Take a breath, enjoy the scenery and just relax. I pray that you're first month of 2018 is going well and that you find a way to catch some restful moments with the remainder of 2018.
