If we say, we have fellowship with him, while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin." 1 Jn 1:5-7
Sometimes we find it easier to live in the darkness because we know it allows us to hide the things we don't want others to see.
A thief breaks in during the night because he knows he is least likely to be caught at that time. My grandmother used to always tell me to leave a light on in the house, even if you're sleeping. She claimed that it would deter anyone that was thinking of breaking in. It is a logical idea for where there is light nothing can hide. Even the best disguised thief will be revealed by the light. It will protect your house from the darker deeds of night.
Let God be the light at your door. Keep his light close to your heart always and you will find that the temptations of darkness are driven away. We can not fight against the darkness on our own. And more often than not we fail to keep the darkness at bay. Only by "walking in the light" can we succeed. Let Jesus' love shine bright in your life and you will find little difference between the night and day. Let the Lord strengthen you and you will find a great joy that rises with the dawn.
I pray you all have a blessed New Year and remember,
Be The Light
